BUFFALO, N.Y. -- George M. Hezel, director of the Affordable Housing Clinic in the University at Buffalo Law School, recently was honored by the Heritage Christian Home Inc. for his outstanding support of the agency and people with special needs.

Honored at the agency's sixth annual dinner held earlier this month, Hezel was cited for his initiative and expertise in developing a plan for affordable housing for people with development disabilities using federal low-income housing tax credits.

Ronald Little, vice president of finance for the agency, praised Hezel's exceptional command of the law, problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn the unique funding system for the developmentally disabled.

"As a direct result of his efforts, millions of new dollars will be available for low-income housing for people with special needs," Little said.

The non-profit organization's mission is to provide a respectful living and working environment that enriches the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.

It serves some 1,000 individuals in the Buffalo and Rochester areas through its 34 homes, respite programs, service coordination and day habitation programs.

Hezel is a resident of East Aurora.
