BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Research that shows pets can reduce their owners' stress-related blood pressure and heart rate will be the topic of a "UB at Sunrise" breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 21 in the Center for Tomorrow on the North Campus.

The featured speaker will be psychologist Karen M. Allen, Ph.D., a research scientist in the UB School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Allen's research shows that not only can four-legged friends reduce stress, but they also provide social support for those who live alone or otherwise have little human contact.

Tickets for the program, which includes a full breakfast, is $15 for the public and $12 for UB Alumni Association members. The reservation deadline is Oct. 18. For more information, or to make reservations, call 829-2608.

The "UB at Sunrise" breakfast series is presented by the UB Alumni Association in partnership with the Office of News Services, Office of Publications, Office of Conferences and Special Events, Office of Development and the Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Urban Affairs.
