BUFFALO, NY -- The Blue & White Club in the Division of Athletics has set a goal of $250,000 for its annual drive to support the university's athletic scholarship fund.

The club, which also works to enhance the visibility and reputation of UB athletics and honor supporters of the program, has set the drive for Feb. 17 through March 17.

Andy Hurley, director of development in the Division of Athletics, noted that more than 170 volunteers will participate in the drive, an increase of more than 30 percent over last year.

Gina Collora , president of the Blue & White Club, is chairing the drive.

"We have an extremely energetic group of volunteers made up of community leaders and distinguished alumni, as well as former UB student-athletes," Collora noted.

"As the UB Division of Athletics continues to grow, we continue to raise the bar on this scholarship drive. For all of us, this is a labor of love.

"We realize that what we are doing benefits potential student-athletes, the Western New York community, the UB Division of Athletics and the university as a whole. As UB athletics becomes a nationally-recognized entity, it becomes a greater source of pride for not only the university, but also for all of Western New York."

Hurley noted that the drive's goal is $170,000 more than last year.

"To reach the goals that are in place for the Division of Athletics, we must continue to raise the stakes, and in doing so, increase the support of our community, alumni and friends whose contributions are so critical to our future success," he added.
