BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The horses will remain in their stalls while the humans participate in the second annual Steeplechase 5K Run and Walk on Saturday, May 10, around the University at Buffalo South (Main Street) Campus.

The race will begin at 10 a.m. in the Parker Lot behind St. Joseph's University Church, 3269 Main St.

The event will benefit the activities of the Newman Centers on both UB campuses.

The event's name is derived from the course participants take around the campus perimeter, which passes several church steeples, Hayes Hall's distinctive tower and the water tower at Bailey and Winspear avenues.

First-place male and female finishers overall and the first three finishers in a dozen age categories will win prizes, as well as the first male and female UB finishers.

A post-race lawn party near the finish line will be held for participants and spectators.

Pre-registration is $12 ($16 Canadian); race-day registration is $15 ($20 Canadian). UB students' registration is $10.

For registration information, call 716-636-7495 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.
