Kings of Salsa Dance Show Coming to CFA Oct. 19

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo will present Kings of Salsa on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre in the Center for the Arts, UB North Campus.

Pre-performance Salsa demonstrations and lessons will be held starting at 6:30 p.m. in the atrium

The Kings of Salsa dance show is an explosive showcase of some of the best contemporary dance that Cuba has to offer. The high-voltage show pays homage to the great Cuban performers and dance styles while maintaining a cool, contemporary twist. Classic Cuban dances like the Mambo, Rumba and Cha Cha are juxtaposed seamlessly against the Afro-Caribbean flavor of Havana's modern-day street salsa and hip hop.

The electrifying mix of performers and styles is all backed by Cuba Ashire, a nine-member band whose intoxicating Latin rhythms and stratospheric brass sections bring a slice of Cuban culture to the stage. The combination of expert dancers, exhilarating Cuban dance and authentic Latin music helps to make the Kings of Salsa an awe-inspiring experience.
