Sarahmona Przybyla is an expert on the prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, and on public health preparedness and response.

Her research focuses on the impact of substance use — particularly alcohol and marijuana — on adherence to HIV medication.

Przybyla can also speak to media about antiretroviral therapies, including the HIV prevention regimen known as PrEP, or pre-exposure prophylaxis. She has researched PrEP usage and barriers to adherence among patient populations, in addition to health care providers’ knowledge of the medication and prescribing patterns.

Her research interests also include hepatitis C, particularly issues surrounding prevention and treatment among patients who use heroin.
