Sarah L. Berga is an expert in reproductive medicine, with a focus on how stress can affect fertility and women’s reproductive health.

She can speak to media about how mental health affects reproduction and infertility, as well as stress-induced hypothalamic hypogonadism or absence of menstrual periods (amenorrhea). She can also discuss in vitro fertilization, perimenopause, hormone therapies and polycystic ovary syndrome.

Additionally, Berga can comment on how COVID-19 has affected women’s lives and pregnancies. Her work has included leading an effort to boost COVID-19 vaccination rates among pregnant women in Western New York.

Berga’s research focuses on determining the neuroendocrine mechanisms mediating stress-induced reproductive compromise and the impact of sex hormones on brain health.
