David M. Holmes can speak to the media about global health equity and working with medically underserved communities in the U.S. and globally.

As director of global health education in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at UB, Holmes leads health care practitioners and students on medical relief trips around the world several times a year.

He is board-certified in addiction medicine and can discuss the challenges facing patients dealing with substance use issues, including people who may be victims of human trafficking.

Holmes can also discuss issues relating to spirituality in health, including how doctors can engage in thoughtful conversation to encourage vaccination among Christian patients who have questions about vaccines. He is a past president of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations of Western New York.

Holmes has extensive experience working with local communities, including as a volunteer with the Jericho Road Community Health Center; Well Healthcare (a clinic in Buffalo that specifically serves human trafficking victims); Good Neighbors Health Care (a free clinic in Buffalo that provides free primary care, dental care and mental health counseling for those who are uninsured or underinsured); and at a Brooklyn, New York hospital during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020.
