Bina Ramamurthy can speak to the news media about blockchain and its applications. This includes the use of blockchain technology in relation to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ether, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

As director of UB’s Blockchain ThinkLab, she has taught extensively on these emerging technologies. Among other efforts, she developed a successful series of massive open online courses on blockchain technology that have reached thousands of students. She is also author of the book, “Blockchain in Action,” which introduces fundamental principles and teaches users to build secure applications.

Ramamurthy also teaches classes on data-intensive computing and its emerging applications, and big data platforms such as Hadoop and Spark. She has served as the program director for an undergraduate certificate program in data-intensive computing.
