Research Interests: Development and fundraising practices for the arts
Wendy Diina serves as the Director of Special Projects and Associate Director of Development at the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. As a member of the senior staff leadership team, her work includes strategic planning and project management for new organizational initiatives. Her responsibilities in development include managing a portfolio of fundraising responsibilities, including the leadership and management of a team of direct reports, relationship building with staff, trustees, and volunteers to ensure the success of the BPO’s annual fund campaign, corporate and foundation relations, and government relations. Wendy has freelanced in fundraising event management for both the Irish Classical Theater and Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper.
Wendy started with the BPO in 2010 after running the JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition and after a distinguished tenure at WNED as Director of Special Events. Prior to the that she worked in fundraising and event management at KTEH San Jose Public Television and was a scriptwriter for national Public Television fundraising campaigns. She received her undergraduate degree in communications from SUNY Fredonia and a masters degree from the University at Buffalo in arts management in 2012. Wendy is a graduate of the Leadership Buffalo Class of 2016, worked as a Youth Mentor for the Leadership Buffalo program, serves on the Board of Trustees for Peaceprints, and volunteers for FeedMore Western New York. She is the proud mother of a freshman at Ithaca College and a senior at City Honors High School.
