It is each student’s responsibility to meet all course and work requirements that are set by his/her instructors and supervisors. In the event that a student feels he or she is too ill to fulfill academic or work obligations, he or she must communicate with their instructor/supervisor directly.
Health Services will not formally excuse a student from class or work with a written note, except in the case of serious illness or public health concern. If a student feels that he or she is too ill to attend class, take an exam, or complete an assignment, the student must notify the instructor. Health Services will, with the student’s written permission, verify the date of a student’s visit to our office as well as the extent of his or her illness, should the instructor choose to contact us for this information.
It is up to the instructor or supervisor to decide if he or she will accept a personal report of illness as a valid excuse.
