Do you love game shows and playing to win? Do you think you can spot a scam and outsmart UB’s Chief Information Officer or Chief Information Security Officer? Join UBIT on Thursday, October 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Buffalo Room on Capen’s ground floor (down the hall from 1Capen) for the ultimate cybersecurity challenges gameshow, featuring fun, food, and free prizes.
Join UBIT’s Information Security Office as they kick off their events for National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. This year’s event brings a Family Feud-style twist to everyday categories and questions about staying safe online.
What makes an email look suspicious? What habits put your device at risk? What tricks do scammers use to make you act quickly? In this Family Feud-style UB Cybersecurity Stump the CIO, participants will try to name the top answers to questions about phishing, device security, social engineering, and more.
Questions will be provided, and the challenges offer a chance to test what you know while picking up tips you can use in class, at work, home, and anywhere. You don’t need to be a cybersecurity expert to play; just bring your curiosity and be ready to think critically. Remember, security is everyone’s responsibility (and it can be fun too!)
Activities also include a bonus lightning round celebrating women in technology featuring UBIT’s own AI Ada Lovelace. Bring your curiosity and see how quickly you can solve the clues.
Winners of this challenge will walk away with:
The UBIT Help Center is here to help with your technology needs at UB. Students can also reach out to the UB Tech Squad for help; they can meet you anywhere on North or South Campus.
