SENS offers technology and services such as those that are shown below. You may need a resource we haven't put on this list, but we might be able to provide it if you ask. Please send a request for any such technology or service needs and we will be happy to see what we can do to accommodate your request.
To use computers supported by SENS, you will need a SENS account. We have a SENS account request form that you can complete, and your request will be processed within one business day.
Once you have your SENS account, you will be able to log in to any of our lab systems, plus any other systems that you have been given permission to access. In all cases, you will use the same UBIT password that you use elsewhere.
SENS has several Linux timeshare systems that run Ubuntu 24.04. These systems can be used for remote access to software, running batch jobs that require a long time to complete, and general command-line access to software and services.
SENS also provides timeshare-like services for programs that require running under the X Window System (X11) graphical user environment. This uses software called X2Go and requires a small client to be installed on your local computer.
Please refer to the SENS Timeshares page for additional information on how you can use our timeshare services.
There are a variety of SENS and UBIT technologies and services that can be accessed from remote on-campus locations and off-campus locations. Uses include remote computation, remote learning, and work from home scenarios.
Please refer to the SENS Remote Access Services page for additional information on how you can access various technology services remotely.
SENS hosts various web servers for research, instruction, and personal web pages. Research groups and centers can request space where they can maintain their own servers, with domain names to match. Personal web pages can also be created within a user's Linux home directory.
Please refer to the SENS Web Hosting Services page for additional information on how to start creating your web site.
Research is important to us. We can provide assistance in various ways with your research needs. SENShelp is the best way to start a conversation regarding resources that are available or which you may need to purchase.
Please refer to the SENS Research Services page for additional information on how we can assist with your research.
