Faculty Affairs

In recognition of the importance of mentoring to the success of faculty, the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs, the Faculty Senate, two successive mentoring advisory committees, and other faculty collaborators, have joined together to create a policy and provide guidance for building an effective mentoring culture at the University at Buffalo. You will find training tools and resources designed to help departments build, implement, and manage mentoring programs either ongoing or in fledgling stages.

The Office of Faculty Affairs also offers professional development opportunities for faculty at all career stages.

Office of Curriculum, Assessment and Teaching Transformation

The Office of Curriculum, Assessment and Teaching Transformation (CATT) provides leadership and support for the delivery and assessment of 21st century instruction across physical and digital learning environments. CATT offers a variety of development opportunities for instructors.

National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD)

The University at Buffalo is pleased to announce it has joined the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity. NCFDD provides professional development, training, and mentoring for faculty members, postdocs and graduate students, and the University at Buffalo supports memberships for eligible faculty members.  Please visit our instiutional memberships page for more information.

SUNY LEADS (Leaders Engaging and Developing Strategically)

SUNY LEADS offers a variety of leadership institutes -- including the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander Leadership Institute; Black Leadership Institute; Hispanic Leadership Institute; and Disability Leadership Institute -- designed to empower individuals to become influential leaders within the SUNY System and among higher education. SUNY's leadership development programs focus on cultivating the skills, mindset, and strategies necessary to lead with confidence, inspire teams, and navigate the complexities of today's dynamic higher education environment.
