Medical assistants complete administrative and clinical tasks in the offices of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. Their duties vary with the location, specialty and size of the practice.

You will learn the basics of Registered Medical Assistant procedures including:

  • Medical Terminology
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Basic Patient Care
  • Laboratory & Diagnostic Procedures
  • Fundamentals of Pharmacology
  • Human Biology
  • Patient Billing
  • Word processing for Medical Office
  • Administrative Procedures for the Medical Assistant
  • Computer Fundamentals
  • 160 hours of off-site clinical and administrative internship

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Registered Medical Assistants can expect a median annual wage of $37,380 or $17.97 per hour.

Registered Medical Assistants are categorized as a “bright outlook” occupation which is expected to grow rapidly in the next several years, will have a large number of job openings, or are new and emerging occupations.
