Linguistics major Rebecca Dingle has an interest not only in languages but also a passion for media and culture. At UB, she was able to combine these two passions and travel to South Korea to pursue research.
Working with Professor Walter Hakala, who teaches Asian Studies, Becky was able to formulate her own specific research project that has to do with investigating how to translate new media -- music, TV shows, video games -- coming out of Asian countries.
With funding from the ELN to help, Becky was able to study this topic in South Korea, where she not only gained further knowledge for her project, major, and future career, but was able to expand her worldview, challenge herself, and revel in transformative experiences.
If you would like to find or create a project like Becky's check out the Project Portal and reach out to ELN with any questions.
