The National Academy of Education/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship Program supports early-career scholars making significant scholarly contributions in critical areas of education research while developing the careers of recipients through activities involving National Academy of Education members.

Stephen Santa-Ramirez

Department of Educational Leadership and Policy

Assistant professor of higher education, Stephen Santa-Ramirez, PhD, is an expert on issues that impact the lives of historically minoritized and economically neglected college students. Particularly, his research focuses on campus racial climate; first-generation students’ sense of belonging and transitions; and the ways that race, ethnicity and im/migration policies inform undocu/DACAmented students’ experiences. Some of his recent publications have appeared in the Journal of First-generation Student Success, Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, and International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education. Santa-Ramirez is a 2022 National Academy of Education/Spencer Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow and a 2022 Diamond Honoree of the ACPA - College Student Educators International, an honor that recognizes professionals who are making a tremendous impact in the field of higher education and student affairs.
