Luis Colón, PhD, SUNY Distinguished Professor and A. Conger Goodyear Professor of Chemistry, is an internationally recognized analytical chemist. A fellow of the American Chemical Society (ACS), American Association for the Advancement of Science and Royal Society of Chemistry, Colón has made groundbreaking contributions to the field of liquid chromatography. His research primarily focuses on the development of materials for the separation and analysis of complex chemical or biochemical sample mixtures, including biofluids, protein digests, pharmaceutical drugs, and environmental samples. His influential work has led to eight patents, catalyzing commercial development. In 2025, he received the prestigious ACS Joseph J. Kirkland Award in Chromatography in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field, particularly his efforts in developing new methods.
