Harvard University Fellow in Hellenic Studies

The purpose of the fellowship program is to encourage and support research of the highest quality on topics related to ancient Greek civilization. The proposed research may be approached through any discipline.

2024-25 Honorees

Jackie Murray

Department of Classics

Jackie Murray, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Classics. She is an expert on imperial Greek literature, Hellenistic and Latin poetry, Race in Ancient Literature and Philosophy, and the reception of Classics in African American and Afro-Caribbean literature. She is co-editor of the Cambridge Companion to Classics and Race (2025). She has been awarded numerous prestigious fellowships and awards, including the Andrew Heiskell/NEH Post-Doctoral Fellow at the American Academy, Margo Tytus Fellowship at the University of Cincinnati, John P. Birkelund Fellow in the Humanities at the American Academy in Berlin, and the Lord Byron Medal. In 2024-25, Murray was a fellow at the Harvard Center for Hellenic Studies, where she was working on publications on Plato’s Dialogues and Plato’s Republic.
