To further its law reform work, the Institute elects individuals who reflect the excellence and diversity of today's legal profession. Elected membership consists of eminent judges, lawyers, and law professors from all areas of the United States and from many foreign countries, selected on the basis of professional achievement and demonstrated interest in improving the law.
School of Law
Christine Bartholomew, JD, is a professor and vice dean for student achievement in the School of Law. Her teaching and research focus on civil procedure, evidence, antitrust and consumer protection, subjects for which she has been cited by state and federal courts. She has published numerous articles in leading academic journals, as well as multiple book chapters and essays. She also co-authored a textbook on legal reasoning. A renowned scholar and educator, Bartholomew has received the Law School’s Award for Outstanding Teaching seven times, the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, Jacob B. Hyman Distinguished Professor Award, and Mid-American Conference Institutional Award for Outstanding Faculty for Student Success. In 2025, Bartholomew was elected to the prestigious American Law Institute.
