Updated December 4, 2025

Are you looking to learn more about AI and how to incorporate it into your teaching? SUNY is partnering with Lumen to provide free access to the Lumen Circle Fellowship Program.

This spring, UB is recruiting for two institution-specific Lumen Circles focused on generative AI in teaching and learning. Evidence-Based Teaching with Generative AI is designed for faculty who are new to using AI and want to explore how these tools can support personalization, engagement, and meaningful feedback while aligning with evidence-based practices. Advanced Generative AI for Teaching and Learning is intended for faculty who already use generative AI and want to deepen their practice by experimenting with prompt design, multimodal creation, custom chatbots, and AI-supported analysis to enhance instruction and streamline course workflows.

Given the growing importance of digital accessibility, both circles will include additional resources on accessibility for spring 2026. Faculty interested in exploring how generative AI can support accessibility efforts are encouraged to join one of these generative AI circles. A new Lumen Circle focused explicitly on Digital Accessibility will launch in fall 2026.

Through the SUNY–Lumen partnership, these fellowships are available at no cost to UB instructors. Faculty from all disciplines are encouraged to apply and join a supportive learning community dedicated to improving teaching and preparing students for a rapidly evolving workplace.
