Expand Your Teaching with Lumen Circles – Free for UB Faculty
This fall, the University at Buffalo is offering three exclusive, UB-only Lumen Learning Circles that provide collaborative, evidence-based professional learning for faculty.
NEW! Accessibility
Learn practical strategies for creating accessible digital course materials, applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and improving accessibility, engagement, and student success.
Evidence-Based Teaching with Generative AI
Designed for faculty new to AI, this Circle explores practical, evidence-based ways to enhance teaching, personalize learning, increase student engagement, and provide meaningful feedback.
Advanced Generative AI for Teaching and Learning
For experienced AI users, this Circle focuses on advanced prompting, multimodal content creation, custom AI assistants, and AI-supported teaching and course design.
As part of the SUNY–Lumen Learning partnership, these fellowships are available at no cost to UB instructors. Faculty interested in AI-supported accessibility are encouraged to join one of the AI Circles, where inclusive teaching strategies are also explored.
Whether you're new to Lumen or a returning participant, each Circle offers new cohorts, fresh perspectives, updated resources, and valuable opportunities to learn with colleagues from across disciplines.
Faculty from all disciplines are encouraged to apply and join a community dedicated to creating more engaging, accessible, and future-ready learning experiences.
Evidence-based Teaching with Generative AI
Faculty Orientation: August 26, 2026, via Zoom. A Zoom link will be emailed to you after you complete your registration.
This circle supports faculty who are new to generative AI and want to use it appropriately with students. Participants explore how AI can personalize learning, boost engagement and strengthen feedback while staying grounded in evidence-based teaching practices.
Advanced Generative AI for Teaching & Learning

Designed for faculty already using generative AI, this circle helps participants deepen their practice by exploring advanced applications such as prompt engineering, multimodal creation, custom chatbots and AI-driven analysis to enhance learning and streamline course tasks.
Digital Accessibility
Faculty Orientation: August 26, 2026, via Zoom. A Zoom link will be emailed to you after you complete your registration.
Create learning experiences that work for every student. In this Circle, faculty will explore practical strategies for making digital course materials more accessible while learning best practices for document design, multimedia, PDFs, and other instructional resources. Through collaboration with peers, participants will also discover how Universal Design for Learning (UDL) can enhance accessibility, engagement, and student success across their courses.
Additional Lumen Circles Fellowships will be offered throughout 2026.
