The MS Thesis option largely follows the practice of creating a project, though there are three additional requirements.
1. A proposal of the research to be conducted must be submitted to the advisory committee. This proposal must be defended and approved by the committee before the research can be undertaken.
2. After submission of the thesis, an oral defense must be scheduled and attended by the committee.
3. The committee must have two members: A faculty member or adjunct member of the Geography Department who serves as the student’s advisor and as Chair of the Committee, and one additional member, who serves on the UB Graduate Faculty and must also be a member or adjunct member of the Geography Department.
