Faculty Concerns and Grievances

Most faculty concerns can be resolved by the Chair of the Department. However, in some cases, students may prefer to consult a neutral party to determine how to proceed. In order to meet this need, the English Department has identified two ombudspeople. Each ombudsperson will be available, independently, to informally discuss an issue, share university resources, and offer impartial and confidential advice. They have agreed to abide by the International Ombuds Association code of ethics, which includes independence, neutrality and impartiality, confidentiality, and informality. Please note that the ombudspeople are not authorized to resolve concerns directly; their role is wholly advisory.

For the 2020-21 academic year, the graduate student ombudsperson is Callie Ingram: calliein@buffalo.edu. The faculty ombudsperson is Damien Keane: dkeane@buffalo.edu. Graduate students should feel free to reach out to either at any time.
