Dr. Tinnesz received her doctorate in Education, Leadership, and Policy from the University at Buffalo. Prior to coming to the Department of Communication, she was the Associate Director of a critical thinking program at UB and taught for the School of Education at Buffalo State College. Her research interests include higher education learning outcomes, educational psychology, public speaking, and strategies to improve student learning. Dr. Tinnesz has extensive knowledge on student development and how to implement critical thinking in the classroom. She has conducted many workshops around the country for faculty and students and received numerous awards for improving college student retention.
