School of Law

Blazing Our Path as a Leader in Legal Education

Bold. Innovative. Fearless. These qualities have defined the University at Buffalo School of Law since our founding in 1887. Today, we continue to deliver proudly on our mission to educate a talented, diverse community of students to promote a more just society. Alumni and friends already have embraced our potential with significant generosity. Now, we ask for your continued support as we seek to strengthen our standing and further our impact as one of America’s leading public law schools.

Here Is How We Ensure a UB School of Law Education Remains Accessible to All

We believe, fervently, that an equal and fair judicial system must reflect the full range of cultures, beliefs and voices of our democracy. No law school can be exceptional if only the financially privileged can attend. Scholarships often are the deciding factor for where applicants choose to go to law school—or if they can go at all. With your support, we will also continue to diversify our classes through our award-winning Discover Law Undergraduate Scholars Program, and help students build their skills through 1L Summer Fellowships.

Here Is How Great Teachers Create Innovative Thinkers

Our position in a dynamic public research university allows our faculty to offer new opportunities for our students to learn. Now, to further reimagine the School of Law, we seek your support in three critical areas:

  • Endowed faculty chairs: Attracting and retaining legal educators who are at the top of their field
  • Capital projects fund: Re-engineering O’Brian Hall into a more welcoming, connected, cutting-edge learning environment
  • Dean’s innovation fund: Providing the resources needed to drive creativity and big thinking

Here Is How We Make Our Mark on the World

We continue to deepen the skills of our students—while strengthening communities here and across the state—through hands-on experiences and programs including:

  • The Advocacy Institute: Bringing together all advocacy-related programs
  • New York City Program in Finance & Law: Further expanding our presence in the city
  • Domestic Violence Clinic: In which students work on the front lines toward justice and safety

Continued philanthropy will support these programs that link classroom theory with practical experience and teach our students to give back.
