Albanese appointed assistant dean for Student Success and Engagement

Nicole Albanese, PharmD, clinical associate professor, Division of Outcomes and Practice Advancement, Department of Pharmacy Practice, has been appointed assistant dean for Student Success and Engagement, effective August 15.
Albanese is the inaugural assistant dean for the newly established Office of Student Success and Engagement. In this role, she will provide leadership in the areas of recruiting and admissions, onboarding and academic advisement, registrar, career development and our new learning and engagement communities.
“I am both excited and nervous, which I think are healthy and natural emotions when embarking on a new challenge,” says Albanese. “I am a hands-on immersive learner that needs to see and experience things in order to fully understand them in a way that I can then effectively lead. I can't wait to start getting to know the entire Student Success and Engagement team in the upcoming weeks and months!”
Albanese earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)/Medical College of Virginia in 2001 then completed a Community Care Pharmacy Practice residency at the VCU School of Pharmacy in 2002. She joined the University at Buffalo (UB) School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPPS) in 2002 as a clinical assistant professor and as the program director for our PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency Program for Buffalo Medical Group. In 2016 she was appointed to the rank of clinical associate professor and became the program director for our PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency Program for Buffalo Medical Group.
She has received numerous awards for her teaching and precepting including the SPPS Preceptor of the Year Award in 2020 and the UB Teaching Innovation Award and WNY Residency Preceptor of the Year Award, both in 2018.
Albanese is also a member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy where she has served on the Curriculum Special Interest Group since 2015 and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy where she currently serves as the secretary/treasurer of the Endocrine and Metabolism Practice and Research Network.
