As we turn the page on an extraordinary chapter in the University at Buffalo’s history, I write with deep gratitude and admiration for President Satish K. Tripathi. For nearly 15 years, President Tripathi has led UB with vision, integrity and an unwavering belief in the transformative power of education.

President Tripathi’s tenure has elevated UB’s stature nationally and globally. From record growth in research and faculty excellence to the designation of UB as a New York State flagship university, his vision has positioned UB as a leader in innovation, sustainability and student success. He championed interdisciplinary research to address society’s greatest challenges and expanded opportunities for students from all backgrounds to thrive.

Under President Tripathi’s visionary leadership, alumni and donor engagement has flourished. His guidance through the Boldly Buffalo campaign—the largest fundraising effort in UB and SUNY history—sparked unprecedented support. Inspired by his vision, nearly 84,000 alumni and donors stepped forward, investing in UB students, advancing research and amplifying our global impact. More than $1.1 billion was committed to UB, a testament to the strength of our UB family and the transformative leadership that continues to shape our future.

As President Tripathi concludes his presidency and returns to the faculty, we celebrate a legacy defined by progress, purpose and pride. His leadership has left an indelible mark on UB and all who are a part of it.

I’m grateful, too, for UB’s global alumni network, which is 307,000 strong and growing. The engagement, volunteerism and generosity of this remarkable community have contributed greatly to the university’s success, and together, we will continue to build on this momentum for generations to come.
