The University at Buffalo Alumni Association has elected Eileen Marutiak, BA ’06, as its new president. A board member since 2018, Marutiak divides her time between Buffalo and Washington, D.C., where she is a community affairs program specialist at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. During her tenure, Marutiak plans to focus on strengthening connections throughout UB’s global alumni network, expanding student opportunities and encouraging alumni engagement and support.
Last July, UB graduates from around the world gathered on the stunning shores of Bali for the UB Alumni Global Reunion. Attendees learned about university initiatives, heard from faculty experts, and took part in networking sessions to deepen longtime connections—and create new ones. This year’s event will take place in Singapore in July and will include a special celebration of President Tripathi’s legacy. Sponsored by Alumni Engagement and International Education, the reunion is a unique opportunity to reengage with UB while enjoying Singapore’s vibrant culture.
UB is marking its 180th birthday on May 7 with UB Founders Day, a worldwide celebration honoring the university’s founding in 1846. Festivities are planned in cities around the globe, and all members of UB’s vast alumni network are welcome to participate and share their True Blue pride. Begun in 2023 in just a handful of locations, the annual tradition has quickly grown, reaching more than 20 cities in 2025. Founders Day is now one of the university’s signature events, bolstering ties across the global UB community.
Connect-a-Bull is UB’s online hub for alumni who want to mentor, network and explore career opportunities. Think LinkedIn—but tailored specifically for the UB community. The platform has more than 12,000 alumni and student users who can browse profiles, send messages, video chat and join industry and affinity groups.
