Connect to UBVPN for Android and iOS using Cisco Secure Client

Access protected UB services from off campus, including My Virtual Computing Lab, UBfs and UB Voicemail. Cisco Secure Client is the recommended VPN client at UB.

Download and Set Up the Cisco Secure Connect App

  1. Download and install the Cisco Secure Client app from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS).
  2. Tap the Cisco Secure Client app.
  3. Tap Connection > Add New VPN Connection.
  4. Tap Server Address.
  5. Enter vpn.buffalo.edu and tap OK
  6. Tap Done.

Connect to UBVPN to Access UB Services from Off Campus

You must be connected to the Internet with Wi-Fi or data on your device. Each time you want to access UB services from off campus, connect to UBVPN with Cisco Secure Client:

  1. Tap the Cisco Secure Client app
  2. Turn on the Cisco Secure Client VPN
  3. Select VPN group
  4. Enter your UBITName and password in the Username and Passcode fields, respectively
  5. Tap Connect
  6. In the Answer field enter one of the following:
    • Enter the device number (e.g., through 4) or device alias* (e.g., push1, etc.) that corresponds to the verification method you wish to use or
    • A passcode
  7. Tap Continue

*Device aliases may appear if you have 4 or more devices enrolled in Duo. You can look up a list of your enrolled devices and their aliases by logging into the Duo Two Step Verification Manager and choosing VPN Device Aliases.
