Accessing UBIT Services from Off Campus with AnyConnect (Android, Apple iOS)

AnyConnect allows you to access UB's network from off campus from a device (Andorid device, iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) by creating a "virtual private network" (VPN). This is necessary to access UBfs, My Virtual Computing Lab and other services from off campus.

Applies To: UB students who have paid the Comprehensive fee, faculty and staff

Download and Set Up the Cisco AnyConnect App

Download the New AnyConnect for iOS from the App Store

If you have the old version (renamed Cisco Legacy AnyConnect), download the new version, uninstall the legacy version and then install the new version (iOS 10.0 or higher required).  Updating the app does not upgrade you to the new version.

  1. Download and install the Cisco AnyConnect app from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS).
  2. Tap the AnyConnect app.
  3. Tap Connection > Add New VPN Connection.
  4. Tap Server Address.
  5. Enter vpn.buffalo.edu and tap OK
  6. Tap Done.

Connect to UBVPN to Access UB Services from Off Campus

You must be connected to the Internet with Wi-Fi or data on your device. Each time you want to access UB services from off campus, connnect to UBVPN with AnyConnect:

  1. Tap the AnyConnect app.
  2. Turn on the AnyConnect VPN.
  3. Select UBVPN from the drop-down menu.
  4. Enter your UBITName and password in the Username and Passcode fields, respectively.
  5. Tap Connect.
