New student printing is touchless, more convenient and environmentally friendlier

The new UB Print Anywhere (powered by Wepa) service is available to all UB students. Find all the information you need to get started on the UBIT website.

The easiest and safest way to print is to download the Wepa Print app for your mobile device (from either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store).

You can upload your documents to print using the Wepa Print app, the Wepa website or one of several other convenient options. Then, you can use the mobile app to release printouts touchlessly, or swipe a UB Card, at one of 40 new kiosks around campus using your UB quota. It’s that simple! 

Many kiosks are available 24 hours a day in hallways and lounges, and every kiosk is capable of printing in color or black and white.

Managing your quota is easier now, too. Visit the Wepa website to manage your balance. You can also pay for your printouts with Campus Cash.

UBIT has been working on a new way to print for several years, relying on student feedback every step of the way in order to make sure the system offered a better printing experience.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the new printing system needed to also reduce concentration of people and minimize contact. The new distributed system, which relies on touchless print kiosks, makes UB’s campus a safer place for students, faculty and staff.

Students also demanded more environmentally friendly printing, and this service delivers: by eliminating the need for cover sheets, UB will save nearly 2 million sheets per year. UB’s new printing kiosks also use TreeFree paper made from waste sugar cane fiber for a paper neutral footprint.

The new print solution is also a win for students when it comes to security—your printouts are encrypted when uploaded, and are never printed until you go to a kiosk and release them.
