  • Administrative Operations

    Administrative Operations ensures that UBIT operates with excellence, consistency and reliability by delivering efficient, compliant and responsive operational services. The unit provides the physical, logistical and administrative foundation that enables technology teams across UB to function seamlessly and support the university’s evolving research, academic and operational needs.
  • Enterprise Application Services (EAS)

    Enterprise Application Services (EAS) designs, implements and supports UB’s enterprise applications and campus data access and business intelligence systems. The unit works directly with campus business and academic offices, vendors and consultants to provide the applications and data needed for operations, planning and an improved student experience.
  • Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS)

    Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) supports the core technological infrastructure that underpins university IT services, including virtual and physical servers, data storage, data centers, logins, UBIT accounts, and collaboration platforms.
  • Finance

    The Finance office is responsible for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, accounting and financial reporting that support cost‑effective delivery of IT services. Finance helps ensure that technology investments are aligned with institutional priorities and that resources are stewarded responsibly.
  • Human Resources (HR)

    The UBIT Human Resources (HR) office is responsible for staff recruitment, appointment processing, employee relations, engagement and promoting inclusive excellence across UBIT. The team is accountable for workforce planning, position classification and talent acquisition, ensuring the division attracts the best talent and reflects the diverse population of UB.
  • Identity and Access Management (IAM)

    Identity & Access Management (IAM) is a new unit focused on ensuring that the right people have the right access to the right resources at the right time. IAM centralizes and modernizes identity lifecycle and access governance across UB.
  • Information Security Office (ISO)

    The Information Security Office (ISO) reduces cybersecurity risks by preventing, detecting and correcting threats  to UB’s systems, data, assets, and community members. The ISO manages IT risk, security policies,  promotes a culture of security awareness,  and applies various guiding principles. Such principles enacted and enforced are security as a culture, defense in depth, trust but verify, least privilege, and others.
  • Innovation
    2/24/26
    The Innovation unit is a new, stand‑alone group within UBIT dedicated to exploring, testing and scaling emerging technologies—especially AI and related digital tools—in a secure, coordinated and strategic way. The unit helps UB shape the future of IT rather than treating innovation as side projects or isolated pilots.
  • IT Communication and Engagement (ITCE)
    2/23/26
    IT Communication & Engagement (ITCE) informs the campus community about enterprise IT services through the UBIT website, social media, video and campaigns, and partnerships with campus communicators. The unit also maintains IT service documentation, supports usability and accessibility reviews and reports on key service indicators.
  • IT Customer Experience (ITCX)

    IT Customer Experience (ITCX) is responsible for the front‑line support and technology‑enabled learning environments that shape how students, faculty and staff experience IT at UB. The unit brings together the UBIT Help Center, UB Tech Squad, public computing sites, printing, customer device support, classroom technology support, video capture and learning space design.
  • Network and Communication Services (NCS)

    The key services of Network and Communication Services are Network Engineering, Voice / Data Installation and Repair, and Network Applications and Operations.
  • Research IT
    2/20/26
    Research IT is a new, dedicated unit focused on supporting UB’s rapidly expanding research enterprise with secure, reliable and scalable technology services. The unit centralizes expertise and infrastructure for research computing, data management and advanced analytics.
  • Strategic Portfolio Management Office (SPMO)
    2/25/26
    The Strategic Portfolio Management Office is responsible for helping to ensure that UB’s finite Information Technology resources are optimally focused on meeting the strategic goals of the University and assists in key operational programs.
