Information about Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) can be found on the ISS website. We ask that you first read our website about CPT and/or OPT first, then email ISS if you have specific questions or need clarification. ISS is working on other potential methods for providing information about these topics.
This session explains how you are responsible for following US immigration regulations to maintain your visa status. All newly arrived international students, students changing their status to F-1, students who failed to maintain their F-1 status, and those returning to UB after being away for one year or more must watch an Immigration Session.

Optional Practical Training (OPT) authorization is required for F-1 students to work in the U.S. after graduation/completion of their degree program requirements. Attend this workshop to learn about OPT eligibility requirements and the application process.

Are you a J-1 student interested in working on campus or off-campus in your field of study? This workshop will explore two work authorization options for J-1 students, on-campus employment and Academic Training.
