Radioactive Materials Authorization (for PI)
To request authorization to use radioactive material as a Principal Investigator (PI) at the University at Buffalo, you must:
- Be recognized as a member of the UB faculty or staff and have a definite and demonstrable application for the radioactive materials requested
- Be the senior researcher of the project and directly responsible for radioactive material use in the laboratory
- Provide lab facilities suitable for the work proposed
- Have a minimum of one year's experience working with radioactive materials
- Review the information in the Campus Radioactive Materials Safety Manual
- Review the information in the Guide to Radioactive Waste Management
- If appropriate, review the information in Choosing a Survey Meter
- Review the Commitment to Health and Safety in the Working and Learning Environment Policy
