Timeline for MyUB Improvements

MyUB is up and coming.

Here’s what on the horizon:

Project

Objective

Status

MyUB content simplification

Based on research assessment of students, faculty, and staff, we reduced under-utilized links, combined redundant sections, and reduced the total number of pages.

Target completion is Summer 2005 for students and Fall 2005 for faculty and staff.

Improve MyUB search

Most significantly, the MyUB search is more thorough and will be continuously updated and improved by monitoring search keywords to improve results. For more information, see the MyUB Search project page.

Complete

Improve MyUB home

MyUB home will be a one-stop link for news, events, and important announcements and easy navigation through the MyUB pages.

Ongoing

Improve the interface

With so much changing in MyUB content, it is important that the look and feel of MyUB evolves as well.

Ongoing

Improve navigation

Improved navigation throughout MyUB will provide better placement and increased visibility for UBLearns and WebMail, while providing a more refined index.

Ongoing

Improve Need-to-Knows

With so much going on at UB, Need-to-Knows will have increased customization to provide relevant, necessary information at a glance.

Phase I: Fall 2005

Phase II: Spring 2006

Improve calendar

The calendars house more detailed information and are more functional as search-ability has been added to the events@UB page.

Complete

Develop “My Profile”

“My Profile” will build a more extended personal profile that includes academic, administrative, residence, and e-mail account information that is easily accessible and easy to update.

TBD

MyBookbag

Provides a real-time display of your checked-out library books, as well as online renewal options.

Complete

Increase personalization

MyPage addresses opportunities for users to define what they see and how to display that information. For more information, see the MyPage project page.

Phase I: Complete

Phase II: Ongoing, Spring 2006

Increase customization

We’re finding new ways to make MyUB as personalized as possible. MyUB will be tailored to specific needs for both students and faculty, such as relevant academic resources, and information for domestic/international students and University housing residents.

Phase I: Complete

Phase II: Ongoing

Provide more help

We want you to be able to teach yourself to make MyUB a useful and productive tool. We’re creating online tutorials for user self-service. Visit the tutorials page for more information.

One tutorial complete. More tutorials forthcoming in 2005-06 academic year.

Improve communication

We want to spread the word about the new MyUB. A formal communication plan is being developed to tell the UB community about MyUB improvements.

Under development

Single sign-on

Tired of signing into UB Learns multiple times? We’re developing a single sign-on process to make sure you do not need to sign into other Web applications once you’ve signed onto MyUB.

TBD

Real-time delivery

You’ll be able to view information such as check-stops and courses in real-time.
