Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt

This course propels Black Belts – who have demonstrated a mastery of Six Sigma tools and a natural aptitude to lead and teach – to expert status. Facilitation, mentoring and leadership training prepare individuals to become champions of improvement who create a strategic continuous improvement vision and lead culture change. The course delves into project selection, advanced statistical analysis and statistical process control. Certification requires passing an exam and demonstrating the ability to teach Lean Six Sigma.

Hours: 96 (17-week course consisting of classroom instruction and group discussion moderated by experienced Master Black Belts and continuous improvement professionals)

Learning Outcomes

Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt graduates are innovative internal consultants with deep technical knowledge who serve as champions, teachers, mentors and project leaders. They:

  • Guide enterprise-wide Lean Six Sigma deployment and programs, integrating organizational strategies to improve financial responsibility and improve stakeholder and shareholder value
  • Partner with leadership to select, prioritize and charter projects that align with the organization’s strategic goals and objectives
  • Oversee the design of continuous improvement training and determine its delivery
  • Educate and coach Lean Six Sigma facilitators in the DMAIC methodology, and expose all levels of the organization to the language, tools and applications of Six Sigma
  • Serve as improvement project specialists for complex projects
  • Use advanced analytic methods and statistical tools to perform research and implement new quality initiatives

Intended Audience

Black Belts who seek to engineer Lean Six Sigma company initiatives by instructing, leading and supervising Black Belts and Green Belts

Prerequisites

  • Certified as a Black Belt for at least 3 years
  • Knowledge and use of Minitab statistical software
  • Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills
