An annual tradition at UB, the Signature Series highlights the university's vibrant culture of creative excellence, ingenuity, and imagination. 

Each annual Signature Series program features artistic and educational programming that celebrates UB's groundbreaking achievements and impact in arts and letters.

  • 2018 Signature Series Featuring Abbe Raven
    Abbe Raven will sit down with Robin Schulze, PhD, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, for a conversation about her career and her perspectives on the entertainment industry.
  • 2017 Signature Series Featuring Nnedi Okorafor
    Students, faculty, and staff are invited for this intimate conversation with Hugo and Nebula award-winning author Nnedi Okorafor. Space is limited. Complimentary lunch for pre-registered guests will be provided. 
  • 2016 Signature Series Featuring Tom Toles
    Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist Tom Toles will be joined on stage by Bruce Jackson, SUNY Distinguished Professor of English and James Agee Professor of American Culture, for a candid and in-depth dialogue about political commentary, journalism, and Toles' distinguished career.
  • 2015 Signature Series Featuring Stephen McKinley Henderson
    A panel discussion on social conscience in the arts, led by UB Associate Professor Jonathan Katz and featuring Henderson with fellow UB faculty and members of the local arts community.
  • 2014 Signature Series: Doug Fitch
    Exhibit opening featuring the work Doug Fitch, an acclaimed American visual artist, theatrical designer and director, and puppeteer. Fitch is UB's inaugural College of Arts and Sciences WBFO Visiting Professor in the Arts and Humanities, and will be in residence at the university in Fall 2014.
  • 2013 Inaugural Event: David Felder's "Les Quatre Temps Cardinaux"
    The inaugural speaker of the Signature Series, David Felder is an internationally acclaimed composer of contemporary music who has long been recognized as a leader in his generation of American composers.
