Message from President Tripathi

Dear University Community,

Yesterday evening, a Buffalo State College student was stabbed on campus and transported by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased. University Police are actively investigating this horrible act of violence and are in communication with Buffalo State police and local police.

I want to reassure our campus community that University Police believe there is no residual danger to campus from this incident. University Police are asking anyone who has information about this incident or who believes that their personal safety is at risk to please call UPD at 716-645-2222. I want to thank the members of our campus community who are already assisting with this investigation. 

Please know that the safety and well-being of the UB community is always our highest priority. I encourage any of our students who have been impacted to contact UB Counseling Services at 716-645-2720.  In addition, Crisis Services of Erie County has a 24-hour hotline (716-834-3131) and access to a 24-hour crisis text line; text: “GOT5” to 741-741. Crisis Services text messages are confidential, anonymous and secure.
