The Washington Post quotes Erin Hatton in a story on how inflation is impacting gig companies and their workers. If a serious downturn occurs, gig workers could be especially vulnerable, the story states. An influx of unemployed workers turning to gig work platforms could compete with those already there. “With a significant influx of workers, people are going to be getting fewer shifts and fewer gigs,” Hatton said. “That would in general have pretty significant negative consequences for workers who are already there and the workers that are coming in. There is going to be a finite amount of work.”
