The Wall Street Journal featured Tracy Gregg in an article about the eruption of Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii. The volcano erupts roughly every six years, sometimes sending lava spewing into residential areas. Gregg said if there is too much lava in the crater it could overflow into surrounding areas, like a bathtub would. In that case, the lava would likely find one easy path out and then follow it. “It’s unlikely lava will spill willy-nilly out of the summit,” said Gregg.
