A story published in The New York Times quoted Joanna Pepin on family policies in the safety net spending policy proposed by Democrats. “People need resources for coordinating family and employment across the life span,” said Pepin. “Picking just one policy is akin to putting a fire out in one room of a house engulfed in flames and stopping.” Pepin also opined on extending the child tax credit: “It can reduce child poverty right now, is likely to improve mobility over the long term, and it is unlikely to decrease mothers’ employment,” she said.
