True crime meets 'Law & Order' to revisit U.S. Menendez murders

A Reuters article about, “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders,” an eight-part television series on the 1989 murders by California’s Menendez brothers of their wealthy parents, interviews David Schmid, associate professor of English, who said few crimes rise to the iconic status that makes them a long-term feature of popular culture. “It’s a case that many people have identified as exemplifying the ‘me’ decade of the 1980s and it is distinguished by a complete lack of remorse on the part of the perpetrators, ” he said.
