Release Date: September 25, 2020

The University at Buffalo Office of Student Life is reviewing the new SUNY-wide safety policy announced today by SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras.

This policy focuses on uniform application of sanctioning across SUNY aimed narrowly at addressing violations during COVID-19. This policy is not meant for the vast majority of our students, rather the few who have chosen to take individual actions that, during a public health emergency, risk the collective good.

The university will communicate these guidelines with students, with a goal of implementing the new protocols by the Oct. 1 deadline set by the chancellor.

We want to applaud the overwhelming majority of UB students who have complied with UB and SUNY health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy fall semester. Constant vigilance and healthy behaviors are required at all times to protect our communities from spread of the virus.
