Norman R. McCombs has a mechanical engineering degree from the University at Buffalo. He has been involved in research and development all of his professional life. He founded the Xorbox Corporation in 1973, which evolved into AirSep Corporation in 1986.

Internationally acclaimed soprano and Clarence native Laura Aikin was discovered at 15 by Jay Anstee, a voice master's student at the University at Buffalo, while Aikin was auditioning for a school musical. Anstee introduced her to UB professor Gary Burgess, who was her voice teacher for the next seven years.

The University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning will present its 2010 Canadian Wood Lectures on March 31, featuring presentations and discussion by principals of three distinguished firms from across eastern Canada, all of which are recognized for their innovative uses of wood and wood products.

Since its inception in 1892, the University at Buffalo Dental Alumni Association has continued to serve the university, academia, the community and the profession. Its active partnership with the UB Alumni Association has recently expanded to offer dual membership for its affiliates.

Gary Baker, one of 12 to be awarded the 2009 Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers, is a leader in the synthesis and application of environmentally benign solvents, including supercritical fluids and ionic liquids, a new type of solvent composed entirely of ions.

Since his retirement from NFL coaching in 2007, Jim McNally has volunteered tirelessly for UB Athletics. He has made his mark by turning the annual UB football reunion into a premier event, now attended by hundreds of former players. He has personally communicated with more than 1,500 individuals about the reunion, and assisted in planning and organizing a full weekend of events.

Tae Hyun Moon, from South Korea, is a senior majoring in business administration with a concentration in marketing. He is the vice president of marketing for Pi Sigma Epsilon, a student organization in the School of Management, and is in charge of creating and managing marketing projects for the organization and its client companies. Moon also works as a UB Ambassador and is in charge of marketing to and consulting with prospective UB students from South Korea. He also works as a student assistant in the International Admissions office and helps process applications from prospective international students.

Frances Sansone is a retired associate professor from the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. She joined the Emeritus Center in 1999 and began participating in the REV-UP program, supporting a number of areas such as alumni, campus bloodmobiles, Empire State Games, human resources, music, Professional Staff Senate and the Special Olympics.

Large commercial and industrial management is Dennis Elsenbeck's main role as regional executive of energy solutions services in National Grid's western division, as well as the public affairs and community relations function.

Catharine Dohn, formerly assistant dean for Millard Fillmore College, has been giving back to UB since 1997, compiling more than 2,250 hours of volunteer service to date.
