    The University at Buffalo's Center for Computational Research will be a major participant this week in Grid2003, one of the largest public displays of an international computational grid running numerous applications across dozens of sites involving thousands of processors.

    Hundreds of artists in all corners of the world -- a number of them at the University at Buffalo -- use emerging technologies as a tool for material and cultural analysis. One of them is conceptual artist Marc Bohlen, UB assistant professor of media study. His medium is not oil or bronze, but robotics and site-specific data, and his practice combines the structured approach of scientific investigation with artistic intuition, spiced with a deliberate and effective dash of good or bad taste.
  • Toronto's Former Director of Urban Design and Architecture to Speak as Part of UB Series on Nov. 19

    Ken Greenberg, principal with Greenberg Consultants, Inc. of Toronto, will speak as part of the lecture series sponsored by the University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in 301 Crosby Hall on the UB South (Main Street) Campus. The lecture will be free and open to the public.
  • Singapore Program Will Be University at Buffalo's First Undergraduate Program Operated Entirely Overseas

    The University at Buffalo has established a program at the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) that will lead to a bachelor's degree in business administration from UB. Beginning in June 2004, it will be the first UB undergraduate degree program to be delivered entirely overseas.

  • Bernice Noble, Noted UB Research Scientist and Union Activist, Dies at 63

    Immunologist Bernice K. Noble, Ph.D., 63, of Eggertsville, professor of microbiology and immunology in the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, died unexpectedly Nov. 8 in the Veterans Administration Hospital of respiratory complications of a serious chronic illness.
