How to View Your Honors Experiences

All Honors students have a University Honors College section in their Academic Advising Report (AAR) in the HUB Student Center. It is typically located below the UB Curriculum section, but above your major requirements.

The Honors section of your AAR displays all components of your Honors curriculum, including your Honors Introductory Course(s) and your Honors Experience Requirements.

Honors Introductory Courses

This section contains the course or courses you are required to take as a member of the University Honors College:

  • For students admitted to Honors as incoming first-years, this includes your 199 UB Seminar (3 credits) and HON 102: Freshman Honors Colloquium (1 credit).
    • SEAS students: Your HON 214 seminar (1 credit) will appear in the Honors Experiences sub-section (see below).
  • For students admitted to Honors as a transfer or current UB student (TIA), this includes HON 250: Advanced Honors Colloquium (1 credit).
  • For UB-SIM (Singapore) Honors students, this includes HON 255: Singapore Honors Colloquium (1 credit).

Honors Experiences

This section details the required number of Honors Experiences you need to complete and your progress in doing so.

Under Honors Experience Coursework, there is a bullet point to indicate your current Honors Experience count, including how many total units of Honors Experiences are required and how many remain after factoring in any completed experiences.

For example, for a student who:

  • Entered Honors as an incoming first-year student, and
  • Completed 6 credits so far,

their Honors Experience count would read:

  • Units: 17.00 required, 6.00 taken, 11.00 needed.

Any academic credit-bearing Honors experiences that you have enrolled in will populate in the grid below. If something that should count for Honors is not appearing in this section, please contact your Honors Advisor.

If you completed an Honors Experience Petition, this is manually entered into your AAR by Honors College staff. As a result, the Honors Experience Coursework subsection will look a little different.

You will see a Note: Required units or courses have been changed message above your Honors Experience count. Clicking this note will direct you to a description about the petition(s) you completed, including the project or site name and how many Honors credits you earned for the experience.

To reflect these earned Honors credits, the units required in your Honors Experience count will be reduced by the number of credits completed through the petition(s).

For example, for a student who:

  • Entered Honors as an incoming first year,
  • Completed 6 academic credit-bearing credits so far, and
  • Earned 3 Honors credits through an Honors Experience Petition,

Their Honors Experience count would read:

  • Units: 14.00 required, 6.00 taken, 8.00 needed.

Please note that while the number of completed Honors Experience credits only factors in academic credit-bearing experiences, the remaining Honors Experience credits needed are accurate and reflect the petitioned credits added to the AAR.
