Throughout your time in Honors, you will be encouraged to engage in rigorous coursework within and outside your major and make the most of experiential learning like research, internships and study abroad.

We Make It Easy for You to Excel

As an Honors student, you’ll follow a proven path to success, with support from your classmates, professors and Honors staff.  

First Year: Honors Seminar

An Honors Seminar offers a small, intimate setting for meaningful faculty-student interaction and rich discussion.

First Year: Honors Colloquium

In the first year, successfully complete the Honors Colloquium, a course exploring the city of Buffalo and its vibrant communities through research, civic engagement and group projects.

Throughout: Honors Experiences

As an Honors student, you’ll earn Honors Experiences inside and outside the classroom through a variety of opportunities, from research and internships to studying abroad and taking advanced courses.

Throughout: Maintain required GPA

First-Year Students

All Honors scholars who start their first year must:

  1. Maintain at least a 3.300 undergraduate UB Grade Point Average (GPA) during the first year.
  2. Maintain at least a 3.500 undergraduate UB GPA in each successive year.
  3. Graduate with an overall UB GPA of 3.500.

Students Entering the Honors College after their First Year

If you are a transfer student, a UB student who entered the Honors College after your first year, or a UB Singapore student, you must:

  1. Maintain at least a 3.500 undergraduate UB GPA each year.
  2. Graduate with an overall UB GPA of 3.500.
