Complete the essential first steps to get settled at UB, from setting up employment resources to becoming familiar with campus and your department.

  • Contact HR for onboarding and to set up health and retirement plans.

    Human Resources onboards new faculty and staff and assists them in acquiring health insurance and setting up a retirement account. On their website, you can variety of information, such as professional development opportunities, hiring procedures for teaching and graduate assistants, and the process for accessing the SUNY employee portal.
  • Get your UB Card.

    Your UB Card is your official University at Buffalo ID and is used across campus for a variety of purposes, including building/lab access, access to recreational facilities, and serving as a debit card for campus food purchases.
  • Get your parking permit.

    The Office of Parking and Transportation provides parking permits and campus shuttles. They maintain an app that lists parking lots (in real time) that have spaces available. Parking permits are $15 per year.
  • Review campus maps to locate buildings and faculty parking lots.

    Use the wayfinding and maps page to access campus maps and parking information.
  • Visit your department and locate your office.

    The Administrative Services Gateway provides building profiles, which describe functions and relevant historical information.
  • Familiarize yourself with campus dining options.

    Campus Dining and Shops manages food service at UB. There are many locations around three campuses. Cash and credit can be used for purchasing meals. However, faculty and staff are eligible for FlexiBull Bucks, which is pre-paid debit card on the UB card.
  • Attend the fall State of the University address.

    Monitor your email for an invite to the annual State of the University address. Summaries and recordings are housed on the Office of the President website.
