The Early Career Faculty Lunch and Learn Series is a nine-session virtual professional development series designed to help faculty build successful and sustainable academic careers at UB.
Through practical conversations with campus leaders, experienced faculty, and colleagues, participants will gain useful strategies, discover university resources, and build connections around topics such as mentoring, career advancement, teaching, research, professional networks, and leading research teams.
A successful faculty career is a marathon, not a sprint—but when teaching, research, mentoring, service, and life outside of work are all competing for your attention, it can be hard to know where to focus first. This session will help you step back, set priorities, and build practical strategies for managing your time while continuing to make meaningful progress toward promotion.
Kyle O’Neill from UB’s Employee Engagement and Success Office will introduce tools and resources for turning big, long-term goals into smaller, more manageable steps. You’ll also hear from recently promoted clinical and tenure-track faculty about what worked for them, what they learned along the way, and how they navigated competing demands. Come away with practical ideas, a clearer sense of your priorities, and strategies you can put to work right away.
