Professional Development

A successful faculty career is built on continuous learning. As higher education continues to evolve, professional development provides opportunities to strengthen teaching, develop new skills, explore leadership pathways and remain responsive to emerging technologies and changing student needs. Whether you are early in your career or preparing for your next role, UB offers resources to support your ongoing growth and success.

The landscape of higher education is ever evolving, as are expectations for the faculty role. Additionally, technology is evolving at a rapid pace.  Engaging in ongoing professional learning and development opportunities in these areas:

  • Helps faculty easily adapt to the changing landscape of higher education.
  • Prepare to take on administrative roles, such as program coordinator and department chair.
  • Adopt new technologies at the same pace as their students.

This engagement supports faculty success, while potentially allowing them to expand their role, seeking out formal leadership positions. These faculty are also positioned to mentor junior faculty.
