Personal Care Assistant (PCA)

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) program prepares students for entry-level caregiving roles focused on supporting individuals with daily living activities. Students learn how to assist clients in maintaining independence, comfort, and safety in home and community settings. This program is an excellent starting point for a career in healthcare and caregiving.

What You Will Learn

  • Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and feeding
  • Mobility support and safe patient transfers
  • Communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction
  • Basic safety, infection control, and caregiving techniques
  • Professional conduct in home care settings

Upon successful completion, students earn:

Monday - Friday: 9 AM - 3 PM 

Program Length: 2 weeks 

Course Delivery - In-person at Schofield (3333 Elmwood Ave, Kenmore, NY)

Program Requirements 

Physical fitness and the ability to assist patients with mobility and daily activities

  • Must not have any physical limitations or workers compensation claims
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift up to 10-15 lbs
